5 easy way to enjoy the outdoors

Good grief, it’s HOT outside! Kids want to stay in and play video games or watch tv, adults want to escape the heat in similar ways, too; however, we really do need to get outside. There’s so much fun to be had outdoors safely and at no or little expense

Here’s a list of supplies you can have on hand for enjoying the outdoors and keeping everyone happy.

Parents: Kids are usually content to be outside if we’re hanging out there with them. Join them and get your Vitamin D!

Cold Drinks: Fill up an ice chest with cold drinks (https://www.doterra.com/US/en/blog/spotlight-lemon-oil">water with essential oils is your best bet) and healthy treats. Fun foods for outdoor snacking include popcorn, muffins, bags of chips, fresh fruit.

Bubbles: Bottles of bubbles are great, but bubble machines are inexpensive and easy. You can switch it on whenever everyone needs a pick-me-up.

Lap Trays, Picnic Blankets, and Outdoor Pillows: Have an organized way for artwork and supplies like pencils and crayons to be easily carried outdoors without blowing away in the wind.

Chalk: Encourage kids to draw pictures, hopscotch boards, or funky geometric. Flowers are fun; they can even copy ones they see.

Books: Bring books outside, especially picture books (good for all ages), and they’ll eventually take interest. Place the books around in several places – a couple on a patio table, a few on a blanket in the lawn, etc.

Remember to stay hydrated, find shade, and it’s always good to stay away from the middle of the day. If you can’t find time to stay out long, take breaks and be outside for a few minutes at a time. Morning is a great time to start your day with a walk together.
